Dumbbell Stiff Leg Deadlift
These are a great beginning level exercise to develop your glutes, hams, and lower back. I believe it's incredibly beneficially in teaching you to use your hamstrings for the mother of all exercises: The Deadlift!
The key to this exercise is maintaining as straight a back as possible, and the best way to do that is the set up. Feet should be fairly close to each other without touching. Roll your shoulders back and retract your scapula. The first few reps you should slowly ease your way down and stretch the hamstrings while working to maintain the straight spine. I spot myself with the mirrors. Notice at first I don't go as low, and then as my hamstrings warm up more and stretch I go lower. At the top of the rep, SQUEEZE the glutes together.
Give this a try and let me know how you do! Just another #toolfromatoolbag
